School Counselor Program!

    "Start Where You Are
    Use What You Have
    Do What You Can"

    -Arthur Ashe

Mission

The mission of the school counseling program is to provide HOPE to all students. H.O.P.E: Hope Opportunities and Possibilities for Everyone through the implementation of Academic, Career, and Social Development.

Vision

The vision is to help all students succeed in the areas Academic, Career, and Social Development.

DSES Counseling Program

Whole Group Lessons

Whole Group Lessons are offered to all students. Topics included are developmental in nature such as decision-making and personal safety. Whole Group Lessons are delivered through large group instruction in the classroom.

Small Group Counseling

Small Group Counseling is provided for students who might benefit from participating in a small group with others who have the same need or concern. Group Counseling addresses special concerns in a small group setting.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is provided at the request of school staff, parents, or students. Students meet with the counselor individually to address a problem the student is having. Difficulties with learning, behavior or home issues may be addressed. School counseling is not therapy, and is not intended to be long term or in- depth. Students who need more in-depth services can receive a resource list from the school counselor.

Consulting

The school counselor consults with school staff and parents on an as needed or as requested basis. The school counselor provides information about additional resources to parents and school staff.
