Lauren Cook
Teacher Coach

Hello, my name is Lauren Cook and I am a product of the Douglas County School System, having attended Arbor Station Elementary, Chapel Hill Middle School and graduating from Douglas County High School.  I received my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of West Georgia and my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Leadership from The University of Colorado.  I hold a Reading Endorsement and Orton Gillingham certification at the associate level.
I began my teaching career over 20 years ago in Colorado where I taught a  K-1-2 multiage class for two years and first grade for an additional five years.  In 2003 my husband and I moved back to Georgia to raise our family of two sons.  I began teaching again in 2006 as a half-time reading teacher at Eastside Elementary.  In 2007 I became the full time Title I reading teacher.  In 2009 I was honored as Eastside's Teacher of the Year.  In 2013 I transferred to Arbor Station Elementary to teach first and fourth grades.  In 2017 I was honored as Arbor Station's Teacher of the Year and the 2017-2018 Douglas County School System's Teacher of the Year.  I left the regular classroom setting in 2018 to work with all elementary schools in our county as an Elementary ELA Content Specialist.  In January of 2020 our school district reassigned Content Specialists to specific schools.  I am thrilled to have found my home as a teacher coach at Dorsett Shoals Elementary.
