Overview of the Program
Dorsett Shoals Panther Clubhouse is proud to offer the 21st Century Community Learning Center federally funded grant program.
Our program is strategically designed to increase student academic skills in all content areas, improve goal setting & self-esteem as well as provide exposure to life-skills through hands-on activities. We currently provide academic tutoring and enrichment for selected 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.
This is a free program for qualifying students. Qualification for this program is dependent upon teacher referral. Students attending must have a current registration form on file each year. Transportation is provided for students living in the Dorsett Shoals school zone.
Program Hours: Monday-Friday, 3pm-5:15pm
Our program operates daily on regular school days. If school is not in session on a particular day or afternoon, this program will not be in operation.
Program Activities:
Students participate in a variety of cross curricular activities and academic sessions. Homework assistance is offered for a portion of the program. In addition, a variety of enrichment activities are also included.
Certified as well as classified staff members use a variety of teaching/learning styles to both remediate and accelerate students based on individual needs. Enrichment activities are not limited to but do include: life skills, character education, gardening, and computer lab instruction.
Parent Responsibilities: Please review the Parent/Student Handbook in the additional info section. Parents are encouraged to make program attendance a priority.
Parents of these students are required to attend at least 3 parent meetings/school functions during the school year. These meetings can include PTA meetings, parent/teacher conferences, school events, scheduled parent informational meetings, and special student performances.
